Swine flu prompts changes to Mental Health Act

September 30th, 2009 admin No comments

Source: ManagementInPractice.com

The government plans to rush through measures allowing people with suspected mental health issues to be quickly detained because of fears over staff shortages in any forthcoming swine flu outbreak, it has been revealed.

The temporary changes to the Mental Health Act, as laid out in an unusually short consultation lasting just one month, would mean it would only take one doctor, rather than two, to have a person sectioned and put on medication without their consent.

The measures could have a serious effect on the thousands of patients with psychiatric issues who currently live outside state care, meaning many could be detained against their will on the word of just one health professional.

With very little information on the proposed changes published, many mental health experts have warned the government that they risk side-lining an already vulnerable community and have called on it to spell-out the full raft of changes proposed in the consultation.

Mass Vaccination Drill “Operation Big Shot” Held in Minnesota

Ramsey County health officials have come up with a novel way to prepare for what’s called the novel H1N1 flu: Operation Big Shot

By BOB VON STERNBERG, Star Tribune

Ramsey County health officials have come up with a novel way to prepare for what’s called the novel H1N1 flu.

They’re holding a mass vaccination drill called “Operation Big Shot” today to test their ability to immunize a lot of people quickly.

The drill, to be held at North Heights Lutheran Church in Arden Hills, will be run in two sessions, this morning and this afternoon.

Officials are counting on about 300 volunteers to conduct the drill alongside about 200 health department staff members. They emphasized that staffers will not dispense actual vaccinations.

Instead, volunteers acting as patients will be spotted with a marker as health department staffers refine the best way to operate a vaccine clinic for a large number of people.

To entice volunteers, they will be given a $10 gas card after their shifts.

While the exercise is designed to be helpful in planning for swine flu, officials say it may not be the exact model that St. Paul and Ramsey County Public Health choose for public health vaccinations.

Operation Big Shot is one of several training exercises health officials in Ramsey County conduct each year and was scheduled prior to the emergence of the H1N1 flu pandemic.

CA: Santa Clara County Declares Local State of Emergency Due to H1N1

September 30th, 2009 admin No comments

kron4.com

SANTA CLARA COUNTY (BCN) — Santa Clara County officials are declaring a local state of  emergency due to the H1N1 swine flu virus.

The Board of Supervisors additionally allocated $500,000 toward  flu emergency response.

Officials said there have been 155 hospitalizations and eight  deaths due to the swine flu in Santa Clara County between April 3 and Sept.  15.

“The Board’s declaration of emergency will enable us to put needed  resources in place to respond to what is likely to be a flu season that will  impact our entire community,” County Executive Jeff Smith said in a prepared  statement.

Officials said they have seen increased incidences of the H1N1  virus in the county in the last few weeks, as well as greater numbers of  people coming to hospitals with flu-like illness, and greater absenteeism in  some schools.

The county Public Health Department is preparing to distribute the  H1N1 vaccine, as well as antiviral medications, to try to limit the spread of  the virus, officials said.

N.Y. Health Care Workers Revolt Over H1N1 Vaccine

September 29th, 2009 admin No comments

WCBSTV.com

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (CBS) ― They’re upset over an ultimatum from the health Workers are being told to either get the swine flu vaccine or lose their jobs.

New York is the first state in the country to mandate flu vaccinations for its health care workers. The first doses of swine flu vaccine will be available beginning next week. Much of it is reserved for state health care workers, but there is growing opposition to required innoculations.

Health care workers in Hauppauge screamed “No forced shots!” as they rallied Tuesday against the state regulation requiring them to roll up their sleeves.

“I don’t even tend to the sick. I am in the nutrition field. They are telling me I must get the shot because I work in a health clinic setting,” said Paula Small, a Women, Infants and Children health care worker.

Small said she will refuse, worried the vaccine is untested and unproven, leaving her vulnerable. In 1976, there were some deaths associated with a swine flu vaccination.

Registered nurse Frank Mannino, 50, was also angry. He said the state regulation violates his personal freedom and civil rights.

“And now I will lose my job if I don’t take the regular flu shot or the swine flu shot.”

When asked if he’s willing to lose his job, Mannino said, “Absolutely. I will not take it, will not be forced. This is still America.”

Military to get mandatory swine flu shots soon

September 29th, 2009 admin No comments

Associated Press

WASHINGTON — A top U.S. military commander says troops will begin getting required swine flu shots in the next week to 10 days. Active duty forces deploying to war zones and other critical areas are at the front of the vaccine line.

Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart also told The Associated Press that as many as 400 troops are ready to go to five regional headquarters around the country to assist federal health and emergency management officials if needed as the flu season heats up.

The Pentagon has bought 2.7 million vaccines, and 1.4 million of those will go to active duty military. National Guard troops on active duty are also required to receive the vaccine, as are civilian Defense Department employees who are in critical jobs.

McTriage: Hospitals use swine flu drive-thrus

September 29th, 2009 admin No comments

Hospitals aim to keep contagious patients out of the emergency room

MSNBC.com

Fast-food places have them. Banks and pharmacies do, too. Now hospitals are opening drive-thrus and drive-up tent clinics to screen and treat a swelling tide of swine flu patients.

Call it McTriage. And yes, you can get Tamiflu with that — if you’re sick enough to need it. Most people aren’t.

The idea behind these efforts is to keep coughing, feverish people out of regular emergency rooms, where they can infect heart attack victims and other very sick patients. The need has soared in recent weeks as flu has spread among schoolchildren before vaccine is available.

In Austin, Texas, Dell Children’s Medical Center had nearly 400 ER visits on Sunday alone, mostly kids with swine flu. Dozens were diverted to two tents outside, and there are plans to add a third.

In Memphis, Tenn., Le Bonheur (pronounced luh-BAHN-uhr) Children’s Hospital has had more than 5,500 kids with flu-like illness seek emergency care since Aug. 1. The hospital set up tents outside its ER on Sept. 11 and already has treated more than 900 cases in them.

Hope and Billy Howard took their 3-year-old daughter, Emma Smith, to one on Sunday. The little girl had a fever that would not break with over-the-counter medicine, complained of belly pain and refused to eat, and her parents could not reach her pediatrician.

“I didn’t know what to give her, and I didn’t want to take any chances,” her mother said. At the tent ER, “we were in and out in 15 minutes.”

CDC Drafts “Isolation Order” for H1N1

September 29th, 2009 admin No comments

Kurt Nimmo
PrisonPlanet.com
September 29, 2009

The following draft of an “isolation order” was discovered on the  CDC’s website. It is a template for state and local officials to impose quarantines and what would effectively be martial law.

“Your illness [as determined by state and local officials] requires that you be isolated and requires further public health investigation and monitoring.”

Failure to obey will result in imprisonment without bail prior to trial and the possiblity of a two year prison term.

In other words, according to this document, officials can impose quarantine without evidence that somebody is actually infected with a virus that is now negligible at best. It may also be used to quarantine potentially millions of people suffering from any number of illnesses — or not suffering from any disease at the discretion of the state — that have nothing to do with H1N1. It is basically a carte blanche for martial law under the cover of protecting the public from a communicable disease that is demonstrably a manufactured and weaponized threat.

Groundwork Laid for Mandatory Vaccination in Georgia

On April 28, 2009 Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 217 (“the/this Bill”). It is imperative that all citizens of Georgia read this Bill, as it is now law. It can be found at the following link:
http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/versions/hb217_HB_217_AP_10.htm

Listed below are a few, not all, of the powers granted to the state government. Each item in bold print is taken directly from the Bill.

1. Physicians are given the right to “authorize the use of influenza vaccine orders for a group of patients”.

In the Bill, there is no definition provided for ‘group of patients’. Thus a group of patients could be residents of a certain county, students of a school, children of a certain age group, adults of a certain age group, ANYONE.

2. “No physician who complies with the provisions of this code shall be subject to criminal or civil liability or discipline for 1) entering into an influenza agreement with a pharmacist or nurse, 2) issuing an influenza vaccine order”.

Any physician who follows this code is exempt from any legal recourse.

3. “Consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian shall be a condition precedent to the administration of an influenza vaccine to a child under the age of 18.”

H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine Insert Admits It Causes Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Vasculitis, Paralysis, Anaphylactic Shock And Death

Bird Flu Pandemic
Tuesday, Sept 29th, 2009

The package insert for the Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine manufactured by Novartis has been leaked on the Internet. According to that package insert, the vaccine (based on an earlier vaccine product known as Fluvirin) is known to cause a whole host of very nasty side effects such as guillain-barre syndrome, vasculitis, anaphylactic shock and even death.

Of course anyone who has been studying vaccine side effects already knows that it causes all of these things, but the story here is that the insert for the swine flu vaccine itself is admitting all of these things. The insert says that it was updated during September 2009, so it reflects the very latest information.

You can read the package insert for this vaccine for yourself right here…..
